The Shock of the Fall

I won't bother with any kind of review or analysis of this book - The Shock of the Fall was published almost a year ago and plenty of people will already have written about it and I doubt I could offer anything more insightful or useful (I will say that I read it within 48 hours and it is a book, once again, that I borrowed from the library). Instead I thought I'd pick out my favourite lines, some of which I think are wise words indeed...

"His name's Simon. I think you're going to like him. I really do. But in a couple of pages he'll be dead. And he was never the same after that."

"She is one of those people who tries to feed you the moment you walk through the door, and doesn't stop trying to feed you until the moment you leave...It is a nice way to be. I think people who are generous with food have a goodness about them."

"Anyway, I just thought I'd say where I live. It isn't perfect, but it's home, and now that I have a typewriter,  I'm not leaving anytime soon."

"Problems seem less if we have them with a cup of tea."

    1. You should! Reminds a bit of Catcher in the Rye, if you've read that...
